Would your business be better if …..
Have you thought to yourself, “My business would be great if it weren’t for customers.”
Recently I was shown a disclaimer at the bottom of an invoice. Actually I thought it was really funny, but highly inappropriate at the same time.
The disclaimer was highlighting thoughts that probably we have all wanted to say at some time or another.
The thing we have all come across a customer that has caused you trouble, cost you money or questioned how much you charge, and basically been a royal pain in the …. You know what.
Sometimes it can be so frustrating that you start thinking everyone is like that, all customers are the same.
But they aren’t.
If you are constantly dealing with tough customers
Customers that don’t appreciate what you do
Customers that don’t pay their bills.
Then there is something terribly wrong
And it’s YOU
You’re dealing with the wrong customers, and you need to stop it.
Find your ideal customer, the customer that appreciates what you do pays their bills and you like working with.
Do you know who that is?
Can you describe them?
If you can’t go through your customers that you have now, pick one that you like working with, that appreciates you and what you do.
Create a customer avatar around them (an avatar is like a profile)
Describe all aspects of who they are, where they work, what they like doing, where they live, everything that you can describe them.
Now think about where those people hang out, where can you find more of them.
They are out there you just need to start looking,
But you won’t find them if you are not specific if you haven’t defined who they are.
They are out there, and if you want to enjoy dealing with customers again, you need to find them.
Or the alternative is to write a disclaimer on your invoice that pretty much abuses all your clients good and bad.
Humorous but not recommended
