Accountability is a Numbers Game
The biggest hurdle for any business owner is to step back and allow your employees to take accountability for their role, their purpose.
It’s the ultimate endgame to have a business that runs even when you are not there. But for most this is a pipe dream, so far from reality it is almost impossible to fathom.
But it isn’t a dream, it is possible.
But before an autonomous business can be a reality, everyone needs to be accountable for what they do.
Performance and accountability go hand in hand.
But performance and therefore accountability can’t be achieved if employees aren’t aware of what performance targets, they are accountable for.
But for targets to be achieved, they need to be CATS
Clear targets need to be understandable and understood
Achievable goals are where everyone agrees the targets are realistic while still being challenging
For employees to take ownership over goals, the goal needs to be trackable against an expectation.
For real ownership goals need to be shared for all to see, to celebrate the wins and to get help when the performance falls short.
Accountability will drive your business forward and empower your employees and in doing so will ensure the business doesn’t rely on YOU.
